We all know who these people are. So why do we surround ourselves with these people or tolerate them?
We each may have our own reasons or maybe it’s our past experiences that lead us to justify our answers to this question.
But I’ll ask you this, how do you define bigotry and hatred? Do you think of it in terms of racism, sexism or homophobia? Yes, it can be those things and more. Or can you see this on a smaller scale, like putting up with snide remarks or comments, constant put-downs and being told you’re not okay, from a loved one, friend or neighbour just to keep the peace? When we accept bad behaviour just because… – the list of excuses we will have is endless here – we accept being kept in the darkness by these people. We accept that it isn’t okay to be us. We accept that we aren’t good enough.
So I ask you, when will you accept that it’s time to step into the light, recognise that you are enough just as you are and leave these people behind?
