We can use daily affirmations in many ways. To change the negative thought patterns in our head for instance. We can also use them to boost our self-esteem or talk ourselves up before a big presentation. These are just some of the examples in which to use daily affirmations. But affirmations can also be negative, we may be using them without knowing it. Like the “I’m not good enough” or “No one will ever love me” mantras in your head you have going on right now. We are usually taught these mantras in childhood or from someone who is abusing us. They can continue long after this someone is gone from our lives. But we can change them. Firstly, we have to become aware of them. This can be hard to do at first. But this is where meditation can help. Meditation allows us to quieten the mind. It also allows us to become aware of how we are talking to ourselves, to find that negative tape and who’s voice it belongs to. Then, and only then, will we be able to hand it back and replace it with our own positive voice.
